So lets get started with this Ukadiche Modak recipe:

 

Preparation Time:  15 Minutes

Cooking Time: 20 Minutes

Total Time: 35 Minutes

 Serve for 4.

 

Ingredients:

 

1)1 Coconut

2) Jaggery

3) 2 Cups of Rice Flour

4) ½ tsp Cardamom Powder

5) Pinch of salt

6) 1 tsp of oil or ghee

 

Filling Method :

Scrape coconut. If you get 2 cup of coconut, you will get 1 cup of jaggery.

Cook the coconut and jaggery together into a pan over medium low heat.

Add cardamom powder. Mix it well. Once mixture is thick, turn the heat off.

Cover Method:

For the preparation of cover take 2 cup of water boil it add pinch of salt and 1tsp oil.

Once water start boiling, turn the heat to low and add 2 cup of flour stir it.

Cover and let the steam trap inside to cook the dough.

After 2-3 min remove it from heat.

Modak Preparation Method:

Take dough in a plate and rub it with hands.

Put little bit oil if needed.

Make small ball (epx 2 inch) of dough. Keep the remaining dough covered.

Spread ball on hand and make bowl.

Put 1tsp of coconut mixture in it and Pinch the bowl on the edges 5-6 time. Pull them together and join them.

Prepare all the modak from the remaining dough. While preparing covered them in damp cloth.

Steam cook in to the modak steamer (modak patra) for 12-15 mins.

Pour little ghee on steamed modak and serve it.

 

How to Prepare Filling of Modak:

 

1) Scrape coconut. If you get 2 cup of coconut, you will get 1 cup of jaggery.

2) Cook the coconut and jaggery together into a pan over medium low heat.

3) Add cardamom powder. Mix it well. Once mixture is thick, turn the heat off.

How to prepare Cover of Modak:

 

1) For the preparation of cover take 2 cup of water boil it add pinch of salt and 1 tsp ghee.

2) Once water start boiling, turn the heat to low and add 2 cup of flour stir it. Cover and let the steam trap inside to cook the dough.

3) After 2-3 min remove it from heat. Take dough in a plate and rub it with hands. Put little bit oil if needed and knead the dough.

How to proceed further:
