Tomato saar

Tomato saar is a simple aromatic preparation of tomato curry in Maharashtrian style made using fresh coconut & basic spices.

Tomato saar is best eaten with hot steamed rice.

Some may also prefer to slurp it as a soup or gulp it down as an appetizer.

Preparation Time: 30 Minutes

Cook Time: 10 Minutes

Total Time: 40 Minutes

 Serves for 3.

 

Ingredients:

1) 2 tomatoes

2) 1 cup grated fresh coconut

3) 4 Garlic cloves

4) 1 chopped Onion

5) 1 tsp red chilly powder

6) 1 red chilly

7) Turmeric powder

8) 1 tsp Coriander powder

9) Oil to tempering

10) Salt to taste

 

Method:

Grind coconut, tomato, garlic cloves, chopped onion  and coriander seeds powder, red chilly, red chilly powder,  turmeric powder  into a paste.

In a pan heat oil for tempering add tomato coconut paste and  stir it well.

Bring it to boil and add salt.

Cook on low heat for ten minutes.

Taste it if required adjust seasoning.

Serve hot with plain rice.

 

How to prepare Tomato Sar:
