Sabudana Kheer

Sabudana kheer is generally made during vrat or fasting days.

Sabudana kheer recipe has three basic ingredients – sabudana (tapioca pearls/ sago), milk and sugar.

You may also add cardamom and saffron strands to enhance colour and flavour.

We here share the Maharashtrian version of Sabudana kheer recipe.

Since it’s very easy to digest and light on tummy, it can be given to babies too i.e. porridge.

Sabudana is soft and creamy. Popularly known as ‘Javvarisi Payasam’ in South India.

Preparation Time: 20 Minutes

Cook Time: 15 Minutes

Total Time: 35 Minutes

Serves for 2-3

 

Ingredients:

1) 1/2 cup Sabudana

2) 2 cup Milk

3) 1 cup Water

4) 3 tbsp sugar

5) Green cardamom powder

6) Chopped cashew nuts

7) 1/2 tbsp raisins

 

Method:

Rinse the  sabudana till the water runs clear.

Soak sabudana for at least 20 minutes.

Heat milk in heavy bottomed pan.

When milk comes boil add sugar and stir it till the sugar get dissolves.

Add soaked sabudana.

Cook them for 10 -15 minutes until they become transparent and soft.

Stir it continuously.

Reduce heat and add cardamom powder and dry fruit.

Garnish with raisins.

Serve warm or chilled.

 

How to make Sabudana Kheer

1) Initially, make sabudana kheer to thin consistency by using more milk.
