The first thing you want to do is pick a potato that’s the right size for baking. Then you want to clean the skin a little bit and put it on the potato.
To clean potatoes, you just put them under water, scrub them with a scrubber, and get them ready to put in the oven.
Once your potatoes are clean, you want to pierce them with a fork, a knife, or whatever, and then you want to wrap them in aluminum foil.
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees, set your potatoes on the center rack, and cook them for an hour. Check back in an hour to see how they’ve done.
A baked potato is best opened by poking it along the top with a fork and squeezing it a little bit. Then you can add butter, sour cream, salt and pepper to taste, and you’re good to go.
