Pithale or Pithla is an olden day, traditional Maharashtrian Recipe that can be made in minutes. This quick Pithla recipe was the fix for uninformed guests in the olden days. Even today, this Ravan Pithale is the ultimate fix for the days you are running out of ingredients and too lazy to go grocery shopping. This Ravan Pithale was a quick dinner arrangement for the ladies, when they would run out of dinner after serving the rest of the family. This besan based dish when served hot with rice bhakri or rice, makes an excellent combination. A perfect blend of besan and spices, this Ravan Pithale is worth a try.

So Let’s get started with Ravan Pithale Recipe;

 

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes

Cooking Time: 20 Minutes

Total Time: 30 Minutes

Serves for 2.

 

Ingredients:

 

1) 1 cup chana besan

2) 4-5 green chillies

3) 4-5 tsp red chilly powder

4) 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut

5) 1 tbsp oil

6) 4-5 Curry leaves

7) 1 tsp mustard seeds

8) 1 tsp cumin seeds

9) Pinch of asafoetida

10) 2 chopped onion

11) Chopped coriander leaves

12) 2 tsp chopped garlic cloves

13) 2 cups hot water

14) Salt to taste

Method:

 

Heat oil for tempering add mustard seeds let it crackle. Add cumin seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida and chopped green chilies.

Add chopped garlic cloves, chopped onion sauté till translucent, add red chilly powder and sauté for few minutes.

Add hot water, salt and wait till it get nice boil.

In a mixing bowl make a paste of besan by adding little water. Add grated fresh coconut and chopped coriander, mix it.

Add these besan mixture to boiled water and keep on string.

Low the flame and keep a lid on it. Let it cook for 10 minutes.

Serve hot with Rice Bhakri or Bajrichi Bhakri.

5) Add these besan mixture to boiled water and keep on string.

6) Low the flame and keep a lid on it. Let it cook for 10 minutes.
