Rava Modak or Semolina Modak is different version of the traditional modak.

In this recipe, we do not make covering and stuffing differently, rather all ingredients are cooked to together and later steamed to perfection. An easy and hassle free recipe, rava modak just as amazing as the other steamed modaks. The grated coconut and rice rava blend together perfectly to give you that heavenly taste when it melts in your mouth. The usage of turmeric leaves adds to the fragrance of this mouthwatering recipe. So let’s get started:

 

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes

Cooking Time: 30 Minutes

Total Time: 40 Minutes

 

Ingredients:

 

1) 1 cup rice rava

2) 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut

3) 1/2 cup sugar

4) 2 tbsp ghee

5) Pinch of salt

6) Cardamom powder

7) 2-3 Turmeric Leaves

 

How to make Rava Modak step by step : 

 

Heat 1 & 1/2 tbsp ghee in a pan add  rice rava and begin to roast on medium low heat.

Meanwhile heat water in different pan add a turmeric leaf.

Saute rava in between roasting till you get nice aroma, do not brown the rava.

Now remove turmeric leaf from boiled water, add this water to rava and keep stirring.

Once the water has been absorbed, add fresh grated coconut, salt and stir it.

Once the mixture turns dry, add sugar and stir.

Be careful the mixture should not stick to the bottom of the pan.

Add cardamom powder, keep a lid and let it cook for few minutes on medium low heat.

Wash turmeric leaves and spread little ghee on it.

Grease the modak mould with some ghee, fill the mould with enough mixture and seal the opening of the mould. Open and remove modak carefully.

Repeat  this process for remaining modaks and keep aside.

Place turmeric leaves and  modaks into steamer and steam on high heat for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes just insert the knife into one modak and if it comes out clean,  then it is cooked otherwise cook for another few minutes.

Remove from flame, cool and  serve.

8) Place turmeric leaves and  modak into steamer and steam on high heat for 10 minutes.
