Phodnichi Poli is a traditional  Maharashtrian Breakfast recipe made from leftover chapattis. This recipe is the best way to make use of the chapattis from the previous day. Phodnichi Poli recipe is very similar to that of kanda poha except for that the main ingredient – Beaten rice is replaced by chapattis, which is definitely a healthy upgrade. For all those who love poha but feel guilty of having it later, Phodnichi Poli is a guilt free version. This is a quick fix for breakfast needs as we can make preparations the previous night itself.

So, let’s get started with Phodnichi Poli Recipe;

 

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes

Cooking Time: 10 Minutes

Total Time: 20 Minutes

Serves for 2.

 

Ingredients:

 

1) 5-6 Chapatis (A day before)

2) 1 chopped Onion

3) 2 tsp fried  peanuts

4) 1/2 tsp lemon juice

5) Salt to taste

6) 2 pinches sugar

7) Chopped coriander leaves

 

For Tempering:

 

1) 2 tsp Oil

2) Pinch of Mustard seeds

3) Pinch of Cumin Seeds

4) 5-6 Curry leaves

5) Pinch of asafoetida

6) 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder

7) 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder

 

Method:

Grind Chapatis coarsely and keep aside.

Heat oil and fry peanuts, remove from pan add keep aside.

In a same pan add Mustard seeds and once it start to crackle, add Cumin Seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves.

Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, add turmeric powder and red chilli powder.

Add chapatti and stir over medium heat.

Add salt and sugar mix well, cover with the lid and cook for 2 minutes.

Remove from heat, garnish with coriander leaves and lemon juice and fried peanuts.

Serve hot.

7) Remove from heat, garnish with coriander leaves, lemon juice and fried peanuts. Serve hot.
