Panchmel Dal Recipe is a 5-lentil based dish that is also known as Panchatantra Dal where Panch stands for 5. This 5-lentil curry is extremely healthy as well as delicious owing to the nutritional value of each pulse. With all the pulses loaded with dietary fiber, magnesium, vitamin B-6 & iron, they provide the needed amount of nutrition. This Panchmel Dal is the easiest way of providing these nutrients to your body at once. This is a very famous dish across Maharashtra and Rajasthan. This curry tastes best when served with rice, though can also be enjoyed with chapattis or roti. This Panchmel Dal is ideal for kids that tend to run away at the sight of healthy food.

Preparation Time: 30 Minutes,

Cooking Time: 20 Minutes,

Total Time: 50 Minutes.

Serves for 2.

 

Ingredients:

 

1) 2 tbsp Split bengal gram

2) 2 tbsp toor dal

3) 1/2 tbsp Split black gram

4) 2 tbsp Split red lentil

5) Split green gram

6) 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

7) 1 tsp red chilly powder

8) 1 tsp goda masala

9) 5-6 garlic cloves

10) 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds

11) 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds

12) Pinch of asafoetida

13) Chopped coriander leaves

14) 4-5 Curry leaves

15) Salt to taste

16) Oil for tempering

 

Method:

 

Mix all the dals.

Wash dals with water.

Soak in sufficient water for half an hour.

Boil the dals in three cups of water along with turmeric powder and cook properly.

Heat oil for tempering, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, pinch of asafoetida, chopped garlic cloves sauté until garlic turns brown.

Add red chilly powder,  cooked dal, salt and keep covered for 2-3 minutes.

Stir it well.

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
