Masala Aloo| Masala Batata

I am still to find a person who doesn’t like Potatoes! Ever wondered what the culinary world would do without potatoes? These delicious little sinsters that blend so well with almost anything that can pass through a human mouth, are the best gift to mankind and the culinary word. Well we don’t need to worry as we still have potatoes to our rescue. Today, I thought of introducing you all to one of the dish that mostly tops my favorite’s list, the Masala Aloo Recipe. This Masala Aloo is made from boiled & peeled potato cubes that are spiced up to give you that mouthwatering flavor. Quick & easy to make, this is almost a no-effort dish, that is the best fix for those lazy days. The added peanuts & peas gives an added flavor that enhances the taste of this Masala Batata. The secret to perfect Masala Aloo is to not let the spices burn, for that make sure your flame is on low heat.

So let’s get started with Masala Batata Recipe;

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes

Cooking Time: 15 Minutes

Total Time: 25 Minutes

Serves for 2.

 

Ingredients:

1)  4 Boiled potatoes

2) 1 chopped tomato

3) 1 tbsp. Oil

4) 1 tsp Mustard seeds

5) 1 tsp Cumin Seeds

6) Pinch of asafoetida

7) 4-5 Curry leaves

8) 1 chopped onion

9) 1 tbsp. green peas

10) 1 tbsp. peanuts

11) 1 tsp ginger garlic paste

12) 1 tsp red chilly powder

13) 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

14) Chopped coriander

15) Salt to taste

Method:

Boil potatoes, peel and cut them into cubes.

In a pan, heat oil, add mustard seeds and wait till they crackle.

Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves and chopped onion, green peas, peanuts and sauté.

Add ginger garlic paste, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, salt and sauté.

Stir well on low heat.

Add potato cubes and stir it gently to coat with all spices.

Let them cook for another 10 minutes on low flame.

Garnish with green chopped coriander and serve with chapatti.
