 Fasting Recipes You Can Make On Maha Shivratri

Mahashivratri is an Indian festival devoted to Lord Shiva. This auspicious festival falls on the 14th night of New moon in the Hindu month of Phalgun. On this occasion, the devotees observe fasts and perform rituals to appease Lord Shiva. This day is considered significant as it is believed that on this day Shiva married Parvati. Devotees participate in jagraan or night vigil in at Shiva Temple with utmost devotion to Lord Shiva. In Hinduism, it is believed that observing fast and night vigil will absolve sins of the devotees. Devotees offer various offerings like milk, water, bel leaves and fruits to Shiv Ling on this auspicious day. On this day of Mahashivratri, married Hindu women perform pooja to Goddess Parvati in seek of marital bliss and prospered married life where the unmarried ladies do the same to seek good husbands. Though many devotees go on a fast with fruits & milk, so observe fast with absolutely no intake of food.
