Maharashtrian Kadhi Recipe

Kadhi is one of the easiest and fastest Indian curry one can make. Maharashtrian Kadhi is similar to the Punjabi or Sindhi Kadhi except for the touch of Maharashtrian cuisine. Made with minimal ingredients and almost no efforts, its best for working individuals who have to cook. This tastes absolutely amazing with steamed or boiled rice. The addition of salt and sugar together gives it a delicious flavor that blends amazingly with the flavor of yogurt.

Preparation Time: 5 Minutes

Cooking Time: 10 Minutes

Total Time: 15 Minutes

Serves for 2.

 

Ingredients:

1) 1 Cup yogurt

2) 2 tbsp Gram Flour

3) 2 cup Water

4) Salt

5) 1 tbsp oil

6) 1/2 tsp mustard seeds

7) 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

8) Pinch of asafoetida

9) 2 green chillies

10) 4-5 Curry leaves

11) 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste

12) Pinch of turmeric powder

13) 1/2 tsp sugar

14) Chopped coriander leaves

 

Method:

In a mixing bowl, add yogurt, gram flour, water and mix well. Make sure no lumps are present.

Heat a pan, add oil, mustard seeds and wait till it crackles, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, green chillies, ginger garlic paste, curry leaves and sauté for a minute.

Add the yogurt, gram flour and water mixture to the pan.

Stir it well, and let it boil.

Add salt and sugar.

Let it cook for another 5 minutes.

Once it cooks well, garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Serve hot with rice or chapatti.
