Lapsi Recipe | Lapsi

Lapsi is broken wheat recipe popular in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan.

It is cooked with jaggery as a dessert on auspicious occasions.

This is healthy dessert as you get the benefit of whole grains and added advantage of iron-rich jaggery.

Preparation Time: 5 Minutes

Cook Time: 35 Minutes

Makes 4 Serving

 

Ingredients:

1) 1/2 Cup broken wheat (Lapsi)

2) 1/2 cup jagerry

3) 3 tbsp ghee

4) 1/2 tsp cardamom Powder

5) Almond

6) Raisins

 

Method:

Heat the ghee in heavy bottom pan or non stick pan, add the broken wheat and cook on a slow flame, for 3-7 minutes or till it turn to golden brown, stir it continuously.

Add 2 cups of warm water and cook on a high flame till the water start boiling.

Once the water start to boil cook on a low flame for 15-17 minutes till the broken wheat is cooked.

Once the broken wheat is cooked add Jaggery, cardamom powder stir it and let it cook for another 5-7 minutes.

Once its cooked, the ghee separates.

Garnish with sliced almond and serve hot.

 

Method:

3) Once the water start to boiled cook on a low flame for 15-17 minutes till the broken wheat is cooked.

4) Once the broken wheat is cooked add jaggery, cardamom powder stir it and let it cook for another 5-7 minutes.

5) Once its cooked, the ghee separates.

6) Garnish with sliced almond, raisins.

7) Serve hot.

Tips:

1) Generally, prefer medium size lapsi.

2) Use slightly large amount of desi ghee so as to enhance the texture and make it soft.

3) You may add dry fruits to make it more  richer and tastier.
