Kanda Poha is a Maharashtrian special recipe that is made with flattened rice and onions. This is a special version of the regular Poha where chopped onions are added for enhanced flavor. Tea is the best companion of this Kanda Poha. Serve this for breakfast to provide a filling, healthy and delicious start to your day. This goes well as an evening snack too. So, let’s get started with Kande Pohe Recipe;

 

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes

Cook Time: 10 Minutes

Total Time: 20 Minutes

Serves for 2.

 

Ingredients:

 

1) 2 cup Poha (Flattened rice)

2) 2 green Chilies

3) 1 chopped onion

4) 6-8 Curry leaves

5) 1 tsp mustard seeds

6) 1 tsp cumin seeds

7) 2 tsp ghee or oil

8) 1 tbsp. peanuts

9) Chopped coriander leaves

10) 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut

11) 1 tsp Lemon juice

12) 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

13) Salt to taste

14) 1/2 tsp Sugar

 

Method:

 

Wash the Poha and drain the excess water. Add turmeric powder and salt, mix well and keep aside.

Heat little ghee in a small pan and fry peanuts take away from pan and keep aside.

Heat ghee or oil in a large pan, add mustard seeds and wait till its crackles, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, chopped green chillies and sauté it.

Add chopped onion, sauté it till translucent on a medium heat.

Once the onion is cooked, add Poha and mix well.

Add sugar, lemon juice and fried peanuts and mix well.

Cover pan with lid and let it cook for 2- 3 minutes.

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and grated fresh coconut.

Serve hot.

6) Add sugar, lemon juice  and mix well. Cover pan with lid and let it cook for 2- 3 minutes.

7) Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and grated fresh coconut. Serve hot.
