Hirvya Turichya Danyanchi Khichadi in Marathi

Cook Time: 20 Minutes

Serves for 2.



1) 1 Cup Green pigeon peas (Green Tuvar)

2) 1 Cup Kolam Rice

3) 2 and 1/2 Cup Water

4)1 Onion

5) 1 Tomato

6) 2-3 Green Chilies

7) 5-6 Curry Leaves

8) 1/2 Cup chopped coriander leaves

9) 1 tsp Turmeric Powder

10) 1 tsp Cumin Seeds

11) 2 tsp Pulav Masala

12) 1/2 Cup ghee

13) Salt as per taste





Heat little ghee in a pressure cooker add cumin seeds, curry leaves and chopped green chilies.


Add chopped onion and saute for a minutes once it done add green pigeon peas.


Clean and wash rice and add to green Pigeon Peas saute it for 2-3 minutes.


At the other side boil water.


Add boiled water to rice and saute for a minutes and allow it to boil.


Add turmeric powder, pulav masala, required salt and chopped tomatoes to it.


Close the pressure cooker cook it for 3-4 whistles in medium flame.


Once it done garnish with coriander leaves and ghee.


Serve hot with yogurt.
