Fried Modak | Fried Modak Recipe | How to Make Fried Modak – Maharashtrian Recipes

Fried Modak is a deep fried version of the otherwise steamed modak which tastes

equally good. The Modak has a crispy and crunchy covering whereas the inner stuffing

is soft and moist. The heavenly mixture of coconut and jaggery melts in your mouth

after each bite of this crunchy Modak. Unlike the traditional steamed modak, this fried

modak is made of maida. Though the classic stuffing is delicious, you can also add

dates or dry fruits of your choice to the stuffing. For other varieties of Modak, you can

So let’s get start with the fried version of Lord Ganapati’s favorite Modak:

 

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes

Cooking Time: 20 Minutes

Total Time: 30 Minute

 

Ingredients:

 

For the Stuffing:

1) 1 cup Fresh grated Coconut

2) 3/4 cup jaggery

3) 2-3 tbsp cashew nuts

4) 2-3 tbsp raisins

5) 1 tsp cardamom powder

6) Salt

 

For the Cover:

1) 1/2 cup Maida

2) 1/2 tsp Ghee

3) Salt

4) Water

5) Oil for deep frying

 

Method:

Heat jaggery, coconut and cardamom powder and stir  it till jaggery melt on medium low heat.

Add salt cashew nuts and raisins and remove from heat.

Make the dough for covering.

In a mixing bowl take Maida, ghee, salt and mix with fingertip. Now add little water and start kneading the dough.

Make a smooth and soft dough. Cover it and keep aside for 10-15 minutes.

After that knead one more time and divide dough into small equal balls.

Flatten it out between your palm.

Take one of it and roll it into a circle by using rolling pin.

Put the stuffing into a center.

Shape the  modak. Do the same for rest of modak.

Heat the oil in pan on medium heat to deep fry. Once heat fry modak.

Once fried remove it on a plate.

 

 How to make Fried Modak step by step with images:
