History
The Jetts Party Shoppe and Pizzeria was the name of the original Jet’s Pizza, which debuted in Sterling Heights, Michigan, in 1978.Eugene and John Jetts started it as a joint enterprise in a building that had previously served as a party store, hence the name. For more than a decade, they mostly functioned as a family-owned restaurant until they chose to become a franchise operation in 1990.Having worked together for two years, they formed a partnership with their cousins Jeff and Jim Galloway, Jr.to form Jet’s America Inc.Their business took off as a result of this.
They now have shops in 20 different states.
What They’re Famous For
The fact that Jet’s Pizza is not like the other pizza chains that give the same thing to clients may make it seem like they’re the same as the others, but after you see what they have to offer, you will realize that they are different.Sure, they still serve pizza tastes that are essentially comparable to those offered by other establishments, but they have added their own unique spin to the classic. As a result, they are most known for its square deep-dish Detroit-style pizza, which is appropriate given their roots in the city of Detroit. In contrast to other deep-dish pizzas in the area, however, its recipe and presentation set it apart from others in its category.Jet’s Pizza’s most popular product, the 8-Corner Pizza, is a pair of square deep-dish pizzas that have been dubbed and trademarked as such.As a result, you receive four corners in one pie and another four corners in the other, for a total of eight corners in total.
However, considering the fact that they also sell the 4-Corner Pizza, it can also be argued that the moniker is more about the portion size than anything else.Using Mama Jett’s secret recipe, they were able to personalize their pizzas in addition to their preferred pizza style. They were able to create delicious pizzas using just the freshest ingredients available, and the results did not disappoint.Even though their crusts are substantial, their crusts are crispy on the exterior while being light and buttery on the inside. As soon as you bite into one of them, you will quickly forget that you purchased them from a large pizza distribution company.
- Regular pizzas, on the other hand, are also available.
- If you’re looking for the standard variations, you may pick from Thin, NY style, and Hand Tossed Round.
- You may even get them flavored for no additional fee if you want to make your pizza taste even better.
- Because Jet’s Pizza also offers Seasoned Cauliflower and Gluten-Free crusts, you may take things even further and sample a completely different experience at Jet’s Pizza.

9 Reasons Why Pizza Is So Expensive
Pizza, which originated in the Italian city of Naples, has grown into a worldwide delicacy, with over 30 billion pizzas consumed annually throughout the world. With so many different types of pizza to choose from and new recipes being created every day, it’s no surprise that pizza is becoming more and more well-known to new interested potential pizza consumers. But why is pizza so prohibitively expensive? Why would a slice of pizza sell for one dollar, when the same amount of money can be used to purchase a nice lunch that will leave you feeling satisfied? Why not cook your own pizza at home, as you will most likely spend less money in the process? The reality of the matter is that there are a plethora of variables that influence the price of pizza.
Examples include the type of distribution route used, the quality of the ingredients used, and the geographic region that will be covered by delivery trucks throughout the course of the procedure. When it comes to determining the price of a pizza, the amount of pizza is also important. The following is a list of elements that help to justify the high price of pizza in today’s society.
The Cost and Quality of Ingredients Used
When it comes to assessing the price of a meal, the cost and quality of the components used in its preparation are crucial considerations.Because of the potential profit, the price at which these materials were purchased is an essential factor in the final cost of the product. The following is a list of the components that are used to produce pizza, as well as how they affect the price of the dish.
1. The Quality of Cheese
- Dairy products, such as cheese, are composed of proteins and lipids produced from milk. There are over a thousand different varieties of cheese manufactured across the world, each with its own distinct flavor and consistency. The price of a pizza is determined by the quality of the cheese that is used in its preparation. Using high-quality cheese will always result in a perfectly consistent consistency for the pizza that is being prepared. There are many various varieties of cheese available across the world, with the price of each varying according to its quality. Cheese is the most costly food item on the market, with one pound of Pule costing over $600. This astronomical expense is attributable to the length of time it takes to produce it as well as the unique materials used in its preparation. Unlike typical cheese, which is made from cow or goat milk, this sort of cheese is made from donkey milk from the Balkan region. The production of one kilogram of pule necessitates the use of 25 liters of Balkan donkey milk. Mozarella, Provolone, Cheddar cheese, Gouda cheese, Goat cheese, Ricco, and other cheeses are among the most often used cheeses for pizza making.
All of these varieties of cheese have distinct tastes, and each has a corresponding price that varies according to its quality.
2. Quality of toppings
- When it comes to creating pizza, the quality of the toppings utilized has a direct influence on how well the pizza will sell in the market. With over 500 distinct pizzas and toppings available across the world, the ingredients and styles have evolved to suit the needs of each location as well as the tastes and preferences of the people who eat them. The following is a list of the most well-known pizza toppings that are used all over the world. a variety of pepperoni and onions
- sausage
- extra cheese
- bacon
- green peppers and black olives
- mushrooms
A certain price is associated with each of the toppings. If you want to make a pizza with bacon toppings, the price will be somewhat greater than if you want to make one with green pepper toppings.
3. Olive oil
Olive oil is one of the numerous substances that are used in the preparation of pizza dough. As a result, it has an impact on the amount of pizza that will be sold. Due to the high cost of olive oil, which ranges from $15 to $30 a gallon, it is reasonable for commercial pizza vendors to charge much higher prices for their products in order to make a reasonable profit.
4. The Type of Pizza
When it comes to the quantity of toppings on a pizza, there is a significant difference between an expensive pizza and a cheap pizza.Additionally, the sort of cheese used to create it, as well as the manner in which it is baked, are important considerations. In most places, the most expensive pizza is baked in a wood-fired oven, which imparts a smoky taste to the dish.In contrast, the baking of typical pizza takes place in standard ovens.Besides having a considerably thicker and spongier crust, expensive pizzas also contain finer toppings such as arugula and kalamata black olives, which you would never see on a cheaper pizza.Expensive pizzas are also more difficult to come by.
Through the use of low-cost pizza, vendors are able to save money on ingredients while passing those savings along to their customers.
5. Location
When ordering a slice of pizza, the location of where you are in the globe will decide how much you pay. When purchasing pizza in towns or cities where there are a greater number of pizzerias, you are more likely to spend less money than when purchasing pizza in areas where there are less pizzerias. This is due to the fact that there are more sit-down restaurants and more premium establishments in these locations.Buying a medium-sized pizza in your hometown will cost you significantly less money than purchasing the same size pizza in a famous 5-Star restaurant in the city.A luxurious lifestyle is enhanced by dining at high-end hotels, and you will typically spend extra money for the wonderful amenities that are provided. However, in most cases, the flavor of the pizza will be the same; as a result, if you are on a limited budget, consider staying in or eating at mediocre hotels and restaurants.
6. Deliveries
In most cases, clients receive free delivery services from their pizza hubs, and when they do charge them, they charge them at a very cheap rate.Note that the pizza delivery price should be sufficient to cover the costs spent during deliveries, and that profits should be realized on the same pizza that was delivered. As a result, the price of pizza is typically rather expensive. The expenses incurred along the process must be accounted for, and earnings are still generated for the benefit of the business owners.Pizza delivery has advanced dramatically in recent years, with pizza drones replacing the traditional delivery pizza people as the preferred method of delivery.Pizza delivered in this day and age of modern technologies is more expensive than traditional delivery methods.
7. Fuel Costs
A well-known truth is that when the price of gasoline rises, it has a direct influence on practically all of the items produced in a given economy. This is due to the fact that petroleum products are used as inputs in nearly every manufacturing process.Because the delivery cars that will be employed will be consuming gasoline, the price of pizza will be directly affected by oil costs. The higher the price of oil rises, the higher the price of pizza rises, especially in areas where customers are accustomed to receiving delivery.
8. Rent
The cost of renting retail space has a significant impact on the pricing of the company’s items. If the rental prices are high, you may anticipate the pizza that is served there to be similarly expensive as the rates.Due to the fact that the business owner is in the industry to make a profit and pay his or her bills, he or she must ensure that the price of his or her items fully covers all of the costs incurred during the service delivery process.
9. Labor
Keep in mind that you are paying for much more than just the food and services you receive; you are also paying for the amount of time spent baking the pizza and the talents of the person who created it.When you visit the pizzeria on a regular basis, you can be confident that you will have a once-in-a-lifetime taste of unique pizza thanks to the highly trained labor, expertise, and experience on hand.As is often the case with high-quality items, the pizza you are about to devour comes at a hefty cost.
How can you still enjoy eating pizza despite the high cost of buying it?
- Make it at home and see how it turns out. You can learn how to create them by asking a friend who knows how to cook pizza or by watching a YouTube video
- The majority of the time, avoid delivery. They have a tendency to raise the price of a pizza. Instead, go out and get pizza from the pizzerias on your own
- this will save you money.
- Try to purchase pizza in areas where there are a large number of pizzerias or companies that specialize just in pizza, rather than eateries that are more of sit-down establishments, since you are more likely to be charged a high price.
- Because a slice of pizza is more expensive than a complete pie of pizza, you might want to consider ordering a pie instead of a slice.
- Cheap pizza can be substituted for expensive pizza, but it may not taste as well as high-quality pizza, which might be prohibitively expensive.
In summary
- Let us return to our original question: why is pizza so expensive? Pricing decisions for a firm should be determined holistically as part of a long-term value-based paradigm, according to the experts. The success or failure of a business is determined by how it prices its products, which is why most pizza businesses choose to price their products at high prices that do not fluctuate rather than adjusting their pricing continually throughout time. The reason why pizza is so expensive is that the pricing process takes into account a large number of factors, some of which are as follows: the costs and quality of the ingredients used are dependent on the type of cheese and toppings used
- the type of cheese and toppings used are dependent on the type of cheese and toppings used
- the type of cheese and toppings used are dependent on the type of cheese and toppings used
- the type of cheese and toppings used are dependent on the type of toppings used
- the type of cheese and topping
- The expenses incurred during delivery
- and
- The rental rates for commercial real estate properties
- The type of labor used during the whole pizza-making process, whether it is skilled or unskilled labor, as well as the length of time spent over the entire pizza-baking process
- What kind of pizza you order as a customer, whether it’s a cheap or an expensive pizza
- The location of the company, whether it is in the suburbs, where there are few pizzerias, or in urban areas, where pizzerias are nearly everywhere
- and
- The cost of gasoline
- if it is expensive, it can have an impact on the price of pizza.

Jet’s Pizza Review
Last time I visited my family in Michigan, the GF’s parents surprised us with pizza from Jet’s, a popular local pizzeria brand.I snorted and rolled my eyes.As a native New Yorker, I have a tendency to be a bit snooty when it comes to pizza that does not originate in the five boroughs.Aside from a cheesy deep dish from Chicago (which I don’t consider a true slice, but which is undoubtedly excellent), I’m typically hard pushed to find a slice that I can eat without feeling sick. However, as soon as I had a taste of Jet’s, I realized that I had been misinformed. In fact, I came close to devouring one whole pie myself.
Consequently, when I returned to Michigan this year, one of the things I was looking forward to was savoring yet another square of Jet’s Pies. But first, let’s get our appetites piqued with a healthy serving of salad.Antipasto Salad ($8.49): a large serving of antipasto salad.Lettuce, ham, salami, premium mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, and black olives are all included in this sandwich. This substantial salad, which is intended to serve 3 to 4 people as an appetizer, easily serves double that number of people as a main course.
- This salad is made up of a great combination of greens, grape tomatoes, salami, olives, and mounds of mozzarella cheese.
- In fact, Jet’s may have gone beyond with the quantity of cheese they piled on top of this salad – it’s almost hilarious – but only in a gluttonous sense, which is the only way I know how to describe it.
- But, more importantly, what are we here for?
- Jet’s 8-corner pie is a must-try.
a pepperoni-topped 8-corner pizza ($13.98).There are eight delectable deep dish pieces, each with its unique corner crust. There is nothing better than the combination of buttery and cheesy in these scrumptious squares. As a result, Jet’s turns each of them into a corner slice, which I think is brilliant since the crust is like eating paradise in your mouth – wonderfully crispy and delicious. If you’ve ever eaten a pan pie from Pizza Hut, you’re well aware of how buttery those pan pies can be.They, on the other hand, typically taste like fake spray straight from the can.
Jet’s, on the other hand, is all about yummy deliciousness.Premium Mozzarella Cheese, Pepperoni, Ham, Mushrooms, Onions, and Green Peppers on a Square Pizza ($17.35) are some of the toppings on this really special pizza. This is comparable to an 8-corner pizza, however it does not have a crust. It’s equally as cheesy and buttery as the 8 corner, but it lacks the crunchy crust of the original. All of the meat and vegetables are included in this version. It’s crunchy on the bottom, yet wonderfully pillowy all the way through.
- Super Special Pizza ($17.35) is a specialty pizza made with fresh ingredients.
- Premium Mozzarella Cheese, Pepperoni, Ham, Mushrooms, Onions, and Green Peppers are all included in the price of the pizza.
- This version of the super special is presented in the traditional triangular pie shape.
- Although the pies are not as buttery as the square pies, they are just as tasty.
- And, as a last treat, let’s speak about what is known as ″pop″ in the state of Michigan.
They were brought over by the GF’s cousins, who believed that I couldn’t leave Michigan without sampling Vernor’s and Faygo, so I could give them a try. They were one of a kind – the Faygo had a flavor that reminded me of DumDum lollipop’s.And what about the Vernors?Even though it was billed as Ginger Ale, it tasted much different from Schweppes and Seagram’s.It had a lighter, more syrupy flavor.
- But let’s get back to Jet’s.
- As a whole, the second go around was equally as enjoyable as the first.
- Everything I enjoy about a decent pizza pie can be found in a Jet’s pie to some degree.
- When something is this deliciously buttery and crispy, you almost forget about the calories you’re consuming.
The only significant drawback is that it isn’t free. There will be no Jet’s return on the East Coast this summer.I can’t wait to get back to Michigan for another visit.

Little Caesar’s
You get what you pay for.|Justin Sullivan/Getty Images You get what you pay for Little Caesar’s Hot ‘n Ready pizzas were a staple of my childhood. The combination of cheap cost and convenience is sometimes too wonderful to pass up.Despite the fact that the old adage ″you get what you pay for″ holds true in this case, Little Caesar’s is an excellent value.A $5 pizza isn’t really noteworthy.
The cheese-only and pepperoni-only pizza selections are both a disappointment. Those who purchase higher-priced pizzas will remember them mainly for the negative aspects of their experience.Somehow, none of the pizzas ever appear to be freshly made.To make matters worse, people who suffer from heartburn will find the sauce to be a misery to consume.
Pizza Hut
Some people are dissatisfied with Pizza Hut’s customer service.Image courtesy of Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images I have to admit that I am a huge fan of Pizza Hut.Crust kryptonite for me is the golden crispy bottom of the crust.I, on the other hand, am in the minority.Pizza Hut’s position as the undisputed leader of the pizza franchises is eroding. After four years as The Harris Poll EquiTrend’s Pizza Chain Brand of the Year, they are no longer the number one pizza chain in the country.
The reasons for this are evident from Yelp reviews. The personnel, according to a Yelp reviewer, ″are aware that they are offering poor cuisine, and their attitudes / service reflect that.″ Pizza Hut is one of the worst pizza chains in the United States because of its poor service and poor cuisine.
Sbarro
