  1. RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif.
  2. — The city of Rancho Santa Margarita is a popular tourist destination.

  1. The family fun center, which was founded in 1997 in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, has been forced to close 12 of its locations in California and one in Portland as a result of orders from California and Oregon health officials to close and stay at home in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
  2. After being temporarily closed, the company’s lone business in Las Vegas has reopened.

What You Need To Know

  • John’s Incredible Pizza locations will soon offer takeout, once it is allowed to reopen
  • When the pandemic began, the Rancho Santa Margarita company has had to close all of its family fun centers and furlough most of its 1,500 staff
  • The global health pandemic will cause more than $23B in economic losses this year
  • John’s Incredible Pizza has implemented new technology to track customer’s ordering habits to better serve customers
  1. According to the company’s Director of Marketing and Sales Brad Jashinsky, ″it’s been disastrous for the whole restaurant sector, including John’s Incredible Pizza.″ ″Right now, we’re concentrating on reopening as quickly as possible.″ We’re hoping to have takeaway available within the next several weeks.
  2. When the stores reopen, we’ll begin with Las Vegas and work our way down the list.
  3. The decision by John’s Incredible Pizza is similar to that of other restaurants as they battle with the economic implications of the epidemic and adjust their business models in an attempt to make a profit amid the health pandemic.
  1. As a whole, the family entertainment and themed entertainment industries have had a difficult time thus far.
  2. It was revealed last month that CEC Entertainment, the parent company of John’s biggest competitors, Chuck E.
  3. Cheese and Peter Piper Pizza, had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and that the firm will liquidate 34 sites nationally, including five in Southern California.
  4. The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), an organization that represents the attractions industry, which includes major theme parks such as Disneyland, museums and zoos, and family entertainment centers, estimates that the global pandemic will cause more than $23 billion in economic losses this year in the United States and Canada.
  5. According to the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), more than 235,000 jobs in the attractions business have been lost in the United States.
  • Since the pandemic forced the closure of John’s Incredible Pizza’s business model, the past several months have been extremely difficult for the company.
  • When it comes to malls, John’s is a recognizable sight, and it’s a favorite venue for families organizing kid birthday parties or get-togethers.
  • Most of the time, children play in an indoor arcade while their parents indulge on an unlimited buffet of pizza, salad, spaghetti, soup, fried chicken, and other delectables.
  • Retailers benefit from the presence of John’s since it occupies more than 50,000 square feet of area – roughly the size of a football field – and brings in much-needed foot traffic to shopping malls.

In addition, according to Jashinsky, John’s attracts millions of consumers yearly throughout its 14 sites in three states.Prior to the outbreak of the coronavirus, John’s had just celebrated the grand opening of its 14th store in Carson, the company’s first in the county of Los Angeles.Founder and CEO John Jashinsky stated that the company was trying to expand and capitalize on the experience retail trend in brick-and-mortar locations.

  1. He also stated that John’s typically launches a new store every 18 months.
  2. According to Jashinsky, ″it was an amazing time for us.″ ″We had just launched our first store in Los Angeles County,″ says the author.
  3. In order to grow, we were always looking for new chances.″ However, when the coronavirus epidemic struck in March, the firm was forced to close all of its family fun centers and lay off the majority of its 1,500 staff.
  4. The company was able to stay afloat thanks to money from the United States Paycheck Protection Program, but Jashinsky said the company is still struggling to make ends meet.
  5. He wouldn’t say how much money the firm received from the government.
  6. When the state of California reopened its businesses in May, John’s reopened all of its locations in June and welcomed back its employees.

However, the centers remained open for only a couple of weeks before a new wave of coronavirus cases in Orange County and across the state prompted state officials to order a new shutdown.″Closing the second time was quite difficult.A large number of our staff were brought back, but we were forced to furlough them again,″ he explained. Now, like many other businesses, John’s is simply waiting for the inevitable to happen.Despite all of their efforts, Jashinsky says they have been unable to find a solution.

″That’s the most frustrating aspect of it all, because no matter how much research we do, there’s nothing that we can actually do,″ he says.″We’ll have to wait until health inspectors give us the green light to reopen.″ In the event that there is one silver lining to this experience, it is that John’s has incorporated modern technologies into its business strategy. The shop in Las Vegas has served as a testing ground for the corporation.

For the purpose of social distance, the arcade games have been placed at least six feet away from one another.Individuals living in the same home are the only ones who can play multiplayer arcade games. In addition, the organization has improved its cleaning procedures and introduced hand sanitizers.

  • Because buffets are not permitted, John’s has turned to an all-you-can-eat table service for dine-in customers.
  • Visitors may order food and beverages using the John Incredible Pizza application on their smartphone for a period of up to two hours.
  • Servers carry specified goods to the customer’s table, as requested by the customer.
  • Customers’ data has been collected as a result of the ordering-by-app feature at John’s.
  • Although it is still early in the process, the data that has been collected so far has enabled management to identify the most popular menu items that consumers are ordering, as well as the least popular menu items.
  • As a result, the management of John’s company will be aware of how much of a given item they should prepare or refrain from producing.
  • ″The amount of data that has been collected has been enormous,″ Jashinsky said, adding that the firm will continue to gather data from its consumers at other outlets once it is permitted to resume operations.

This provides us a better understanding of what our guests are interested in and helps us to serve better meals. It will also enable us to tailor our marketing approach as well as our menu selections,″ says the CEO.Jashinksy stated that the corporation is keeping track of the coronavirus infections in the state and is waiting for the governor or state health officials to declare the state reopen for business. In his words, ″I’m hoping that this is only a little speed hump and that it will provide enterprises like John’s and others with time for contemplation and adaptation to a better way of doing things.″

Our Story

  1. In Grand Forks, North Dakota, Rick and Cheryl Barsness were working at Cheryl’s first job when they met and married.
  2. They founded Incredible Pizza Company in 1993.
  3. When they got married, they moved to the Texas town of Victoria, where they owned 12 pizza businesses and raised five children.
  1. Every year, Rick went to a pizza convention, and after stumbling into a video game convention, he had the bright idea to include video games into his pizza businesses.
  2. Soon after, a hole was punched in the wall, and they were able to create a game room with around 10-15 games.
  3. It was a huge success, and they wanted to expand the concept by including rides and other activities.
  4. Their notion of a 40,000 square foot restaurant complete with pizza, games, rides, and activities did not meet with universal approval.
  5. They made the decision to close their firm in Texas and relocate to Springfield, Missouri, in order to explore a different concept.
  • After visiting many banks in the region and failing to obtain the loan they required, they decided to go to one final bank in the area.
  • It was against all odds that the couple got approved for a loan.
  • It was in the 1950s that Rick and Cheryl spent their formative years, and they cherished that era for both its music and the strong family values that it fostered.
  • They made the decision to replicate that atmosphere for today’s families.

Their mission was to provide a safe haven for loving families to spend quality time together while immersing themselves in a carefree world of pure enjoyment.American Incredible Pizza Company was established via years of devotion and hard effort, as well as a strong belief in what they were doing. They feature four themed eating rooms for families to enjoy in keeping with the 50’s theme: the diner, the family room, the Starlite room, and the gymnasium, all of which are located in their restaurants.

  1. The restaurant is decorated in the style of the 1950s, with red and black tables and booths that are lighted by red neon lights that run down the ceiling’s perimeter.
  2. The Starlite Theater was a popular family attraction in the 1950s, so Rick and Cheryl designed a themed area complete with large movie screens to show all of the films that were popular at the time.
  3. In the 1950s, children would have their lunches in the Gym, which Rick and Cheryl remember fondly since they built the Gymnasium, which was equipped with basketball hoops, banners, and folding chairs.
  4. Finally, they developed a motif for the Family Room that was inspired by the décor from the 1950s television program ″Leave it to Beaver.″ This year’s wedding reception will feature a 100+ item, all-American (cafeteria style, when necessary) buffet that will include salad bar items as well as pizza, spaghetti, and other favorites.
  5. When families have done dining, they may spend time around the fairgrounds, much like Rick and Cheryl used to do during their childhood summers.
  6. Incredible Pizza Company offers up to 11 activities, 150 games, and a massive prize counter, which is sure to keep the whole family entertained.

″John’s is permanently closed,″ Connolly announced.″The building was owned by John Parlet’s ex-wife, but he was still the renter at the time of the restaurant’s closure as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak,″ says the author. In light of the foregoing, Connolly stated that he has received and continues to entertain offers from potential buyers who may be interested in preserving John’s Incredible Pizza in its current form, or reopening the business as another restaurant with a similar theme but operating under a different name.Another type of commercial use permitted under the area’s commercial zoning is the establishment of a skating rink, bowling alley, or arcade, among other things. In an interview with the Daily Press on Friday, Brad Jashinsky, the director of sales and marketing for John’s Incredible Pizza, stated that he didn’t have much information about the restaurant’s sale.In accordance with the state’s reopening standards, Jashinsky expects to reopen when San Bernardino County reaches the orange tier.

″We anticipate that we will remain as the tenant under the new owner of the property,″ Jashinsky said.Connolly stated that if the restaurant were to reopen after being shuttered for more than seven months, it would not be instantly ready to do so whether the county gave the go-ahead to the existing or new owner.According to Connolly, ″you don’t shut down a restaurant for months and then expect to perform a lot of prep work before you can reopen.″ The system is ″plug and play,″ but it will ″take some time″ until it is completely operational, according to the developer. It is estimated that the single-story building will cost in the multimillion-dollar range.

The price tag will include all of the kitchen equipment as well as tables and chairs for booths, plates, silverware, and other kitchenware, as well as everything else associated with the restaurant operation, according to Connolly. The arcade games, bumper cars, and prizes that helped distinguish John’s Incredible from other High Desert pizza restaurants are not included in the price of admission.″John would agree, however, to sell the products in the arcade if there is a demand for them,″ Connolly said, adding that the objects in the arcade did not have a set sales price associated with them. Before closing its doors in March due to the COVID-19 epidemic, John’s Incredible Pizza spent decades bringing joy to its customers with party rooms, video games, bumper cars, and other games and activities.

  1. It also included a buffet that included pizza, pasta, fried chicken, salad, soup, and desserts, among other things.
  2. According to several parents, including Abby Lopez of Hesperia, the diner was also considered as a popular neighborhood venue for birthday parties and other celebrations.
  3. ″All three of my sons spent their birthdays at John’s Incredible Pizza,″ said Lopez, a retired office manager.
  4. ″John’s Incredible Pizza is a family tradition.″ I remember renting out a few of party rooms and the kids would eat pizza, eat cake, open presents, play games with their pals, and have a great time for hours.″ However, as her children reached the age of majority, they lost interest in the venue, she said.
  5. ″The games, rather than the food, are the primary attraction at John’s Pizza,″ remarked Samantha Howell, of Adelanto.
  6. If the restaurant opens for takeout or outside eating, no one will come eat there unless there are games and activities for the kids, according to a business spokesperson.

Those who have lived in the Victor Valley for a long time may recall the building’s prior occupant: The Bushel Basket, which operated out of the Bear Valley Road location before 1997.Victorville was one of 14 John’s Incredible Pizza locations that were shuttered in March as a result of statewide limitations put in place to stem the spread of COVID-19.There were 16 locations total. As of Tuesday, the only sites that were open for food, games, and rides were those in Roseville, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada.

A corporate representative wrote on the John’s Pizza Victorville Yelp page in July that there had been no verified occurrences of COVID-19 at any of the locations, and that this was supported by company data.According to Eater Las Vegas, the 60,000-square-foot John’s Incredible Pizza at the Boulevard Mall in Las Vegas reopened in July with a modified buffet to ensure that it could continue to operate securely throughout the coronavirus outbreak.Call 760-951-6227 or send an email to Rene Ray De La Cruz at [email protected] to reach Daily Press writer Rene Ray De La Cruz.

Incredible Pizza Company, now focused on slow growth, moving Springfield headquarters

  • America’s Incredible Pizza Company had hoped to have dozens of stores by now when it first opened its doors.
  • Only three years after the Springfield-based firm debuted its first buffet/carnival mashup on South Campbell Avenue, owner Rick Barsness told the News-Leader that he had sold the rights to roughly 50 franchise locations.
  • Incredible Pizza planned to open 30 company-owned outlets by the end of the year, bringing the total number of locations to 73.
  • Incredible Pizza established its first shop in a suburb of Oklahoma City in January of this year.

It is the company’s sixth retail location. The remaining four are franchises.″We’re not developing as quickly as we would have hoped in the beginning,″ says the CEO ″According to Barsness, in a recent interview.″We’re growing at a slower pace, but every single one of our locations is profitable,″ says the CEO.Due to the fact that Incredible Pizza does not build many restaurants in a single metro region, the company’s expansion since 2002 has taken place in locations outside than its home base in New Jersey.During the summer of this year, though, it will make one local change: it will relocate its central office operations to a new building in Springfield that will provide 50 percent more space.

Previously, Rick and Cheryl Barsness resided in Texas, where they were a franchisee with Gatti’s Pizza, where they worked before opening the first Incredible Pizza location at 2850 S.Campbell Ave.— which will not be affected by the headquarters relocation. After developing a concept involving games at the rear of its restaurants, the pizza buffet business received mixed reviews from customers.

However, one couple felt the concept went too far.The go-karts, bumper cars, and laser tag were among the attractions that we intended to provide, but they were not interested in doing so at all.″ ″Rick Barsness expressed himself.″They only desired ″a little gaming area of some sort.″ The couple eventually decided to sell their 12 Texas eateries and relocate to Rogersville.During their children’s summer camp experience at Kanakuk, a Christian camp near Branson, Cheryl Barsness and her husband were acquainted with southwest Missouri, she explained.

  1. They believed Springfield’s demographics were comparable to those of Amarillo, a Texas city where they had operated a successful restaurant.
  2. Additionally, the weather appeared to be favorable.
  3. Originally from North Dakota, Cheryl Barsness explained that she and her husband wanted to return to a place that had four seasons but wasn’t nearly as frigid as their home state of North Dakota.
  4. When it first opened, the Incredible Pizza facility in South Campbell occupied 40,000 square feet.
  5. According to Rick Barsness, ″they thought we were nuts.″ A pizza buffet, a selection of arcade and carnival-style games, as well as rides, are included, as are all following sites.
