    • In many cases, I simply pile everything on top of the pizza (particularly vegetables) and let it cook while the pizza is baking.
    • However, because I bake at a high temperature and don’t leave the pizza in the oven for an extended period of time, the crust is generally rather crisp anyway.
    • The peppers and onions on this pizza, on the other hand, needed to be a little softer, so I precooked them ahead of time.

    Ingredients

    A half pound of delicious Italian sausage another 2 tblsp. extra virgin olive oil 1/2 medium red bell pepper, sliced 1/2 medium yellow bell pepper, sliced 1/2 medium green bell pepper, sliced a half of a tiny onion, thinly sliced 1 pound pizza dough*1/2 cup pizza sauce 1 pound pizza dough 1-and-a-half cups shredded Italian Cheese Blend 1 teaspoon oregano leaves (dried)

    Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 500°F with a pizza stone in the bottom (if using). Preheat the oven to 450-500 degrees Fahrenheit.
    2. Bring approximately 1/2 inch of water to a boil in a medium-sized saucepan. Cook until the sausages are cooked through, about 10 minutes, after which remove the lid and continue cooking. Remove the water from the pan and stir in 1 tablespoon of the olive oil. Cook the sausages, turning them occasionally, until the casings are crisp. Take the sausages out of the pan and chop them into 1/2-inch pieces to serve. Return them to the pan and cook them until they are golden brown on both sides.
    3. In the meantime, heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Cook until the peppers and onion are crisp-tender, approximately 8 minutes, then remove from heat.
    4. Using a rolling pin, roll out the crust (on parchment, if using). Add the pizza sauce on top and mix well. The peppers and onions should be placed on top of 3/4 of the cheese. After you’ve added the sausage, top it over with the remaining cheese.
    5. Placing the pizza in the oven and baking until the crust is crisp and the cheese is melted should take around 10 minutes.
    6. Immediately remove the baking sheet from the oven and sprinkle with the oregano
