Gluten Free – The Postbake

When it returned, it sparked some debate on social media, with the business now claiming that its bases are gluten free.With so many debates centered around Domino’s’ return to gluten-free pizza delivery service, I thought it would be helpful to compile a short ″need-to know″ guide to ordering your gluten-free pizza from Domino’s.Unless otherwise stated, all information is for Domino’s restaurants in the United Kingdom alone and is current as of the date of writing (June 2021).
If anything changes, I will make every effort to update this page.
When did the Domino’s gluten free menu launch?
Domino’s first introduced their pizza bases in the United Kingdom in 2012, with the full support of Coeliac UK’s certification process behind them.To think that we’ve been enjoying a gluten-free menu at Domino’s for over a decade is incredible!At the time, gluten-free bases were offered as an option for any of the pizzas on the Domino’s menu, including the classic cheese pizza.This meant that you could customize your pizza with any toppings you wanted – but a few of years ago, Domino’s updated the structure of their gluten-free menu to reflect this.Instead of allowing users to select ‘gluten free’ as a pizza base choice, the app began to only list selected flavours that were gluten free at the time.
This meant that instead of being able to customize your pizza, you could only get a Gluten Free Pepperoni Passion, for example – though I believe you could still add other toppings at the time.In the aftermath of COVID, gluten-free Dominos fans were dealt a devastating blow when the firm announced that it would be temporarily discontinuing gluten-free pizzas across the country.
Why did Dominos stop gluten free pizzas?
Domino’s provided an early Christmas present in the shape of eliminating its complete gluten-free menu from its website in December of this year.As a result, an explanation blog post was published, outlining the rationale for this decision.According to the company, it was forced to cut workers in its kitchens as a result of social distancing efforts.″To enable all of the above, the particular sections we previously had for making gluten-free pizzas are no longer accessible – and of course, sending them down the makeline with other goods means we can no longer guarantee the gluten-free status of your pizza,″ Domino’s stated in a statement.And while many individuals were offended by this, I entirely understand why.

And now, 18 months later, with limitations in the United Kingdom finally starting to loosen a little (at least for the foreseeable future), gluten-free Domino’s pizzas are once again available!
How do I order gluten free Domino’s in the UK?
Domino’s gluten-free pizza may now be ordered both online and through the Domino’s mobile app.It will take some time to navigate through the app and discover the gluten-free pizzas after you’ve passed by all of the delicious, enormous, gluten-filled pizzas you’ve seen thus far.And yes, you read it correctly: they’re all only available in tiny sizes.Classic.The following screenshot will demonstrate what you’re searching for.
The current Dominos gluten free menu consists of:

They are also the same price as a small ‘regular’ pizza, so there is no additional charge for a gluten-free basis, which is a welcome difference from traditional pizza bases.
Can you customise the gluten free pizza?
Unfortunately, unlike in the past, your selections are very restricted.Already, you can only customize the toppings that are currently included in each individual pizza order.As an example, you may customize the Gluten Free New Yorker by removing or increasing the amount of any of the toppings that are present on that pizza.However, you are not permitted to add any more toppings on it.Furthermore, with the cheese and tomato pizza, you are unable to make any modifications.
What about the Schär base?
It’s comforting to know that gluten-free pizza bases will be delivered in pre-packaged, just as they were before the epidemic, to guarantee there is no cross contamination.Many others, on the other hand, are dissatisfied with the idea that you can just pop down to Asda and pick up a box of two Schär gluten free bases for £3.However, if you enjoy spending £14.99 on a pizza (and, let’s face it, who doesn’t when you’re suffering from a hangover?), you can now have one delivered to your door.
Is Domino’s gluten free pizza safe for coeliacs?

A very comprehensive list of all of the measures in place to ensure that there is no risk of cross contamination for gluten free pizzas can be seen on the Domino’s corporate website.Domino’s gluten-free bases are manufactured by Schär in a controlled environment that is 100 percent gluten-free, and they are delivered to stores in sealed pouches.Training is provided to all team members in the preparation of gluten-free meals.Also available are dedicated gluten-free pizza preparation stations and ingredients that are only available for use on gluten-free pizza.Because of this, Domino’s utilizes different sized screens to cook gluten free bases, the bases are a little different shape, and gluten free boxes are marked with stickers to guarantee that there are no mix ups.
People are concerned about the possibility of cross contamination from the ovens and the manufacture of non-gluten-free pizzas, which I’ve observed.Domino’s does not utilize separate toppings for gluten-free pizzas, but the company claims that procedures have been put in place to eliminate the danger of contamination from the three toppings that do contain gluten in the first place.There are also no separate ovens for baking gluten-free pizzas in this establishment.

Unfortunately, most of the bargains in store are only valid for medium or large pizzas – and gluten free folks, of course, can only consume little portions of food. It follows that a large number of discounts and promotions do not apply to gluten-free pizzas.
The gluten free pizza can be included in the following UK Domino’s deals:
- Two for Tuesday entails purchasing any two pizzas at the regular price of one. It won’t make much of a difference if your companion in crime is destroying a huge pizza, but it could make a difference in the end result
- The Lunchtime Sharer is a large pizza of your choice for £13.99. A full £1 is taken off the price of a gluten-free regular pizza with toppings. Now is a good time to relax.
- You can get any size pizza for for £9.99 if you buy two sides with it. In which case, I’ll eat one pizza and two batches of nachos.
- Double Delivery Deal – Get any two pizzas delivered for the price of one for £10.99. While this is not a significant savings, it is plenty to go out and get a pack of pizza bases for the future.
- You may save money by purchasing one item and receiving another for free if you can be bothered to travel to the shop to pick up your order, which lets face it, defeats the purpose of a Domino’s, doesn’t it?
There are, of course, a plethora of discounts available that vary on a regular basis, but these are the ones that I’ve come across that include gluten-free pizza.
Is Domino’s gluten free pizza vegan?
You gluten-free vegans will appreciate this conundrum, I’m sure.The reason for this is because while the Schär gluten free pizza foundation used by Domino’s is vegan, all of the vegan pizza alternatives include wheat.In addition, there is neither gluten free AND vegan option on the menu, nor can orders be customized in any way, including swapping out cheese for dairy free cheese, through the app or on the website.Given that the tomato sauce topping is naturally vegan, if you can persuade them to substitute your cheese with vegan cheese, you can create a gluten-free and vegan pizza.If you want to give it a shot, you’ll have to call your local location because there is no way to customize gluten-free pizzas through the app or website.
However, I’ve seen several individuals on Facebook who have reported success in placing an order for vegan cheese on their pizza by telephone.I think it’s just a matter of picking whichever store you want to go to!
What gluten free Domino’s side dishes are there?
- Domino’s gluten-free menu has previously been lacking in variety, particularly when it comes to sides.
