On the occasion of Janmashtami, we thought of presenting you this recipe of Lord Krishna’s favorite dish, Makhan(butter). Though easily available in the market, this homemade butter tastes way better than the store bought alternative. You can be sure of the purity of this homemade butter unlike the store bought butter that is loaded with preservatives. You can use this homemade butter for daily cooking too. Dishes you can use this homemade butter to cook are Pav Bhaji, Dhapate, Doodhiche Thalipeeth, Kandyachi Poli(Onion Roti) and many more.




So let’s get started with homemade butter recipe;

 

Preparation Time: 20 Minutes

Cooking Time: Nil

 

Ingredients:

1) 4-5 Cups fresh cream ( Malai)

2) 2 Cups water or Ice cube

 

Method:

Boil milk, after 20 minutes keep into the refrigerator you will find a thick layer of cream after 5-6 hours.

Collect fresh cream at home from  milk. Remove cream from milk, store it into a container and keep container into the freezer.

Once you collect enough of cream you can prepare butter from it.

Remove collected cream from refrigerator and let it come to  room temperature.

In a mixture jar add water or ice cube and cream and run for 2-3 minutes.  Stop and repeat the same procedure for next 10 minutes.

You will see lumps will separated from butter milk.

Or you can also use a whisk to make a butter instead of using mixer jar.

Strain all butter from buttermilk, wash the butter 2-3 times in chilled water. Drain the water completely.

Once the water is completely strained from the butter, store it in a container.
