Birdyachi Usal | Valachi Usal – Total Ingredients
Ingredients for Usal:
1) 2 cups Kadve Waal ( Field Beans)
2) 1 big sized Onion
3) 1 Tomato
4) 3-4 Kokam
5) 1/2 cup grated fresh Coconut
6) Coriander Leaves
8) Salt as per taste
Ingredients for Tempering:
1) 2 tsp oil
2) 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
4) Curry Leaves
5) Turmeric Powder
6) Malvani masala Powder
Soak the kadwe waal for 10-12 hours in a water.
Drain off the water and tie them into cotton cloth and keep aside until the beans have sprouted
Once the beans have sprouted, transfer them to warm water and soak for 10 minutes
Peel them and keep aside.

Heat oil and add mustard seeds allow them to crackle than add hing, curry leaves, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and
saute for a minutes.
Birdyachi Usal – Masala Preparation,
Add finely chopped onions and fry them till they turn into golden brown.
Add tomato and stir for a minute.
Add peeled waal and stir very gently .
Waal Seeds are very delicate so handle very carefully.
Add Salt and Kokam and water.
Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
Once waal beans are half done add jaggary
Once the waal done add grated fresh coconut and chopped coriander leaves.
Valachi Usal – Delicate Peeled Kadve Vaal Cooked,
Serve hot with Pithal Rice or chapati.
