Bhokrache Lonche

Bhokrache Lonche is made of Bhokra, also known as Gum Berry in English. A perfect mixture of raw mangoes & Gum Berry, this Bhokrache Lonche is an absolute delight when you have those spicy-sour cravings. Though this Gum Berry pickle recipe is quite famous across Maharashtra, Gujrat & Rajasthan, they are not known across country due to its limited availability of only a few weeks during summer, that too only in a few cities.Lasora is a rich source of Phosphorous, iron and calcium. The Gum Berries used in the preparation of this Lasora Achar works great for decreasing blood pressure and is also considered an antidiabetic. Store this recipe in an airtight container to increase its shelf life.

So let’s get started with Bhokrache Lonche Recipe;

 

Preparation Time: 1 & 1/2 hr,

Ingredients:

1) 2 Cup Bhokar

2) 2 Cup chopped Raw mango

3) Black rock salt

4) 1/2 tsp Asafoetida

5) 2 tsp Red chilly powder

6) 1 tsp Mustard seeds powder

7) 2 tsp Methi seeds powder

8) Turmeric powder

9) 1 & 1/2 cup Oil

10) Small Muslin cloth

 

Method:

Wash and remove the seeds from Bhokar.

Soak Bhokar in a salted water for at least 1 hour.

Heat 2tsp. oil and add mustard seeds powder, red chilly powder, methi seeds powder, turmeric powder, rock salt and stir it well for 2 minutes.

Switch off the flame and let the mixture cool completely.

Now stuff this mixture into each bhokar.

Add remaining mixture in chopped raw mango and mix well.

Now take an airtight jar, add stuffed bhokar and chopped raw mango.

Heat remaining oil and let it cool completely.

Once it cools down pour it in the jar.

Cover the jar with a lid. Place a cotton cloth and then tie up with a long piece of cloth.

Keep this in a dry place for at least 2 days.

On the 3rd day open and mix with a dry spatula.

Taste it and if required, add more salt.
