Batata Pohe Recipe

Batata Poha or Aloo Poha is a very famous dish of Gujrat as well as Maharashtra. Batata Poha is an excellent breakfast idea as it is not only quick & easy to make in the morning but also very delicious & filling. Flattened rice contains dietary fiber and protein, which is great for health. This maharashtrian batata poha is not only delicious but also easy to digest, thus suitable for the elderly too. Low oil & low calories make this a good pick even for the weight conscious.

So, let’s get started with Batata Poha Recipe;

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes

Cooking Time: 15 Minutes

Total Time: 25 Minutes

Serves for 3.

                          

Ingredients:

1) 1 Cup thick Poha

2) 1 Sliced onion

3) 3 Green chillies

4) 2 potatoes

5) Oil for tempering

6) 4-5 Curry leaves

7) 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds

8) 1/2 tsp cumin Seeds

9) Pinch of asafoetida

10) 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

11) Salt to taste

12) 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut for garnishing

13) Chopped coriander Leaves

14) 1/2 tsp sugar

15) Lemon juice

 

Method:

Wash and rinse Poha.

Add turmeric powder and salt, mix well and keep aside.

Heat oil for tempering add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chooped green chillies, curry leaves, asafoetida and sauté it.

Add potato cubes and fry till they become crisp and brown in colour.

Remove potato cubes in plate.

Add onion and wait till it turns translucent.

Add Poha mixture and fried potatoes. Mix gently with spatula so that Poha doesn’t break.

Keep a lid and let it cook on medium heat.

Add sugar and lemon juice.

Garnish with fresh grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves.

Serve hot for breakfast.
