Moong Dal Vada

Moong dal vada is crispy outside and soft inside.

The coarse texture that melts in the mouth is an awesome feeling and USP of this dish.

This is best eaten at tea-time with mint chutney.

Moong dal vada is also a best option for kitty parties or starters for family get together.

Preparation Time: 4 hours

Serves for 2

 

Ingredients:

1) 1 cup Split moong dal

2) 1 Cup boiled potato

3) 3 green chillies

4) 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste

5) 1/2 chopped coriander

6) 1 tsp cumin seeds

7) Pinch of asafoetida

8) Pinch of soda

9) 1 tsp salt as per taste

10) Oil to fry

 

Method:

Wash and soak split moong dal for at least 4 hours

Grind it coarsely by using little water.

Add boiled potato, chopped green chillies, ginger garlic paste, chopped coriander, cumin seeds, asafoetida, soda and salt to taste to the ground dal.

If required add little water to make a batter.

Heat the oil in a frying pan for deep frying.

To check if the oil is ready, put little batter in a heated oil.

Place about 1 tbsp of batter and fry vadas.

Serve hot with chutney or tomato ketchup.
