Matar Bhajji or Green Peas Pakora is a fried green peas snack recipe. Here we have used steamed matar for making the pakoras, you can also use boiled & well drained peas. These deep-fried fritters are the most delicious when served with green chutney or tomato ketchup. The onions, chillies and spices adds flavor & crunch to these crispy fritters. Due to the added besan, these Pakoda are crispy on the outside but the softness of the peas in retained on the inside. This is one of the best ways of getting your kids to enjoy healthy green peas. The lemon added to the batter gives it a hint of tang.

So let’s get started with the Matar Bhajji Recipe;

 

Preparation Time: 15 Minutes

Cooking Time: 10 Minutes

Total Time: 25 Minutes

Serves for 2.

 

Ingredients:

1) 2 cup green peas

2) 1 cup chopped onion

3) 1 tsp ginger garlic paste

4) 4-5 green chillies

5) 2 tsp garam masala powder

6) 1 tsp red chilly powder

7) 1 tsp coriander and cumin seeds powder

8)   1 tsp cumin seeds

9) 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

10) Salt as per taste

11) 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves

12) 1 tsp lemon juice

13) 1/2 cup besan

14) 2 tsp Oil

15) Oil for deep frying

 

Method:

Steam matar and keep aside.

Heat 2 tsp oil and add chopped onion, ginger garlic paste, chopped green chilly and sauté for 2 minutes.

Add  garam masala powder, red chilly powder, coriander and cumin seeds powder, turmeric powder, 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves and the steamed peas, remove from flame and keep aside.

Add lemon juice and mix well.

Add besan.

Do not add water.

Mixture should not be very thick nor too runny.

Heat oil to kadai for deep fry.

Once the oil is enough hot add the mixture in small quantities.

Fry on medium low flame so the bhajiyas are cooked properly.

Serve hot with green chutney or tomato sauce.
