Kairi Takku or Kairi Koshimbir is a Maharashtrian Specialty. There are various versions of Maharashtrian Takku, here I have presented the basic & traditional version for you all. This Takku is uncooked and raw, the flavor to this comes jaggery, the texture from the seasoning and the peanut powder. This Kairi Koshimbir tastes best when served with Curd Rice. Because of the fact that this Kairi Takku is uncooked, you can enjoy the flavor of raw mangoes with a dash of spice & sweetness to it.

So, let’s get started with Kairi Takku Recipe;

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes

Cooking Time: 10 Minutes

Total Time: 20 Minutes

Serves for 4.

 

Ingredients:

1) 2 Green Mangoes (Kairi)

2) 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

3) 1/2 tsp red chilly powder

4) Salt to taste

5) 1/4 tsp jaggery

6) 1 tbsp. peanut powder

7) 1 onion

 

For Tempering:

1) 1 tsp Oil

2) 1/2 tsp mustard seeds

3) Pinch of Asafoetida

 

Method:

Grate the mangoes and onion, add salt and mix well.

Add peanut powder, jaggery and mix well.

Heat oil for seasoning, add mustard seeds, asafoetida, cumin seeds, red chilly powder and turmeric powder.

Once the mustard seeds & cumin seeds start spluttering, pour this on the grated kairi mixture and mix well.

Kairi Takku is ready to serve.
