Besan Halwa

Besan Halwa is a sweet recipe made of besan (chickpea flour). This recipe is at your rescue every time you have uninformed guests as this can be made with ingredients found in every Indian kitchen. Besan halwa is one of the easiest Indian sweet recipe as it barely takes any preparation. This besan halwa is suitable for any festive occasion when you are too busy with other preparations. You can add different nuts to this besan halwa as per your choice. Make sure the besan is roasted to perfection as it adds a nutty flavor to the dish. Roasting also takes away the rawness while also preventing the halwa from being too sticky.

So, let’s get started with Besan Halwa Recipe;

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes

Cooking Time: 25 Minutes

Total Time: 35 Minutes.

 

Ingredients:

1) 1 cup besan

2) 1/4 cup ghee

3) 1.5 cup milk

4) 1/3 cup sugar

5) 4 chopped pistachios, cashew nuts

6) 4 chopped almonds

7) Cardamom powder

8) 4-5 strands of saffron

 

Method:

Heat milk in a pan, bring to boil and keep aside.

On the other flame heat ghee in a kadai. Once the ghee turns hot,  fry dry fruits and remove in plate.

Add besan and mix well.

Keep stirring continuously for 15 minutes on low flame.

Once the gram flour is roasted, it’ll release ghee from the sides. Now add 1 cup hot milk and stir well.

Once the milk is well incorporated in the besan, pour remaining 1/2 cup milk keep on stirring.

Add sugar and stir continuously to avoid lumps in halwa.

Add cardamom powder, chopped almonds, cashew nuts and pistachios.

Take off the flame.

Serve garnished with chopped pistachios and saffron.
